Graduate student - a person who has completed college (recieved a bachelor's degree) and has gone on for further higher education (most often to recieve their master's or doctorate degree).
Undergraduate student - a person who is in the process of completing college (and recieving their bachelor's degree).
Carbon - (symbol C) is the 6th element in the periodic table. Carbon is one of the most versatile elements and combines with itself and many other elements to form a huge variety of organic compounds.
Single bond - the sharing of one pair of electrons between two atoms.
Double bond - the sharing of two pairs of electrons between two atoms.
Oxygen - (symbol O) is the 8th element in the periodic table. Oxygen is the essential element in the respiration process to sustain life. This colorless, odorless gas makes up about 21 percent of the air.
Hydrogen - (symbol H) is the 1st element in the periodic table. Hydrogen is lightest and most abundant element. Hydrogen composes about 75 percent of the Sun but only a tiny fraction of the Earth.
Atom - the smallest component of an element having the chemical properties of the element.
Bond - an electrical force linking atoms.
Molecule - a molecule is the smallest unbreakable part of a compound.
Compound - a chemical substance formed from two or more elements, with a fixed ratio determining the composition.
Publish - to make information available and distribute it to the public.
Journals - similar in format to a magazine, but journals usually provide scholarly or professional information.
Conferences - a prearranged meeting for consultation or exchange of information or discussion (especially one with a formal agenda).
Astrochemistry - the branch of science that explores the chemical interactions between dust and gas found between the stars.
Interstellar Space - the space between stars within a galaxy (like the Milky Way Galaxy - where earth is found).
Mimic - to imitate or copy.
Spectrum - a plot that shows the intensity of light at different frequencies (wavelengths).
Chatacteristic - typical or distinctive.
Astronomer - a person who studies space objects in the universe.
Infrared -refers to electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths greater than those of visible light and shorter than those of microwaves.
Absorbed -light energy that is taken in and not reflected.
Converting - changing from one form to another.
Inert - not reactive under normal circumstances.
Inspire -supply the inspiration for, urge or encourage.
Accessible - capable of being reached, easily obtained (gotten).
Spectra - plural of spectrum (when there is more than one) - a plot that shows the intensity of light at different frequencies (wavelengths).
Instance -example: in this case - an occurrence of something.
Radio Astronomers - a person who uses radio telescopes to study space objects in the universe.
Perspective - a way of regarding situations or topics.
Wavelength - the electromagnetic spectrum contains energy of all different wavelengths. Each of these wavelengths are different sizes, and have different uses.
