Exploding Soap Bubbles: Hydrogen + Oxygen
A series of three videos shows that as the ratio of oxygen to hydrogen in soap bubbles increases, the explosions that occur when the bubbles are ignited get louder. (The fact that with an excess of oxygen the explosions would become softer again is not shown.) Each video is repeated with no voice-over so that only the sounds of the explosions are heard. Five still images are provided to show the stoichiometry on the molecular scale. The videos are intended to be shown in order beginning with Hydrogen Alone and ending with hydrogen plus more oxygen.

A Service-Learning Project Based on a Research Supportive Curriculum Format in the General Chemistry Laboratory  John H. Kalivas
This general chemistry laboratory course assigns a first-semester project that requires students to develop their own guided-inquiry discovery-formatted lab and a second-semester service-learning project that entails creating an interactive concept-discovery activity for use in a kindergarten through sixth grade class.

The Use of Conjugate Charts in Transfer Reactions: A Unified Approach  Michael I. Allnutt
Redox reactions are discussed in terms of the relative strengths of the oxidant, the reductant, and their conjugates; a conjugate chart is a convenient and useful way of doing this. A similar chart for acids and bases that can be applied in the same manner is proposed.

Mol4D: A Web-Based Computational Chemistry Interface for Educational Purposes  Oliver Stueker, Ingo Brunberg, Gregor Fels, Hens Borkent, Jack van Rooij
Mol4D (Molecules in Four Dimensions) is a web and Chime based molecule editor and computational interface. Visualization and interactivity are the predominant features. Computational results, based on MOPAC, are obtained within seconds and structures presented using the Chime plug in. Orbital information (in VRML format) and the selection of parameters for a linear or grid scan are options.
