Blue Bottle, Red and Blue Bottle
Color changes are caused by reactions of oxygen in the air with chemicals in a solution. The colors fade over time, but can be regenerated by shaking the flask containing the solution.

Induction by Iron(II) of the Oxidation of Iodide by Dichromate
Acidic aqueous solutions containing dichromate and iodide ions are mixed with no reaction. The addition of a solution of iron(II) ion induces the rapid formation of brown triiodide ion.

Exploding Soap Bubbles: Hydrogen + Oxygen
A series of three videos shows that as the ratio of oxygen to hydrogen in soap bubbles increases, the explosions that occur when the bubbles are ignited get louder. (The fact that with an excess of oxygen the explosions would become softer again is not shown.) Each video is repeated with no voice-over so that only the sounds of the explosions are heard. Five still images are provided to show the stoichiometry on the molecular scale. The videos are intended to be shown in order beginning with Hydrogen Alone and ending with hydrogen plus more oxygen.

Suppose that for the reaction of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide
NO2 + CO NO + CO2

the following mechanism has been proposed at high temperatures:
(1) NO2 + CO O-N-O-C-O (slow)
(2) O-N-O-C-O NO + CO2 (fast)
Check the box for each species that is an intermediate in this mechanism.

Chemical Aspects of General Anesthesia: Part II. Current Practices  Robert Brunsvold and Daryl L. Ostercamp
With the basic elements of balanced general anesthesia in place by the 1950s, the focus turned to developing safer and more effective agents and to improving procedures. During the last half-century a new generation of intravenous induction anesthetics, inhalational anesthetics, and muscle relaxants has emerged.

Further Comments upon the Electrophilic Addition to Alkynes: A Response to Criticism from Professor Thomas T.Tidwell  Hilton M. Weiss
This paper responds to the preceding article by Professor T. Tidwell in which he provides arguments for vinyl cations being an intermediate in most electrophilic additions to alkynes.
