Discovery VideosLyubov Hoffman Laroche, Gary Wulfsberg, Barbara Young The use of digital video for instruction has many advantages. In many situations the only way to present some chemical phenomena is through the use of video. The two video lessons presented here are examples intended to supplement our article in the August 2003 issue of JCE.

Structures and Conformations Molecular models are used to demonstrate the conformations of alkanes and cycloalkanes.
Ionic BlocksRichard S. Sevcik, Rex Gamble, Elizabet Martinez, Linda D. Schultz, and Susan V. Alexander "Ionic Blocks" is a teaching tool designed to help middle school students visualize the concepts of ions, ionic compounds, and stoichiometry. It can also assist high school students in reviewing their subject mastery. Sevcik, Richard S.; Gamble, Rex; Martinez, Elizabet; Schultz, Linda D.; Alexander, Susan V. J. Chem. Educ.2008, 85, 1631.

Author of "The Flyleaf Periodic Table" RespondsRoy W. Clark Since publication of our letter about the multiple forms of periodic tables presented in the flyleaf of textbooks I have received many replies. To these readers and any others who were puzzled by our recommendation I offer this explanation. Clark, Roy W. J. Chem. Educ.2008, 85, 1493.

The Periodic Table: Facts or Committees?William B. Jensen I would like to offer two observations relative to the recent letter of Clark and White on the representation of the f-block elements in the periodic table that relate to some disturbing trends in the attitudes of the chemical community towards the nature and use of the periodic tableattitudes that are implicit, though perhaps not intentionally so, in their letter. Jensen, William B. J. Chem. Educ.2008, 85, 1491.
Elementary BingoRobert M. Hanson, Ira M. Hanson Elementary Bingo is a simple Web page that creates Bingo cards for a classroom or social event activity associated with review and/or learning of the names and symbols of the elements. The essential element of the site is that every time the page is reloaded or printed, a unique set of Bingo cards is produced. As in ordinary Bingo, players receive Bingo cards that have chemical symbols. An announcer picks elements out of a hat (or beaker) and announces a chemical name. Players place markers on the symbol for that element if they have it on their card. Once a player has five across, five down, or five diagonally, they announce, "Bingo!" Their card is checked to see if, indeed, they do have the announced elements present.
